Celebrating 10 Years of Chance to Shine

 Over the past nine years CCB has injected over £440k into schools cricket programmes linked into Chance to Shine and the sustainability of junior clubs. The last year saw a decrease in available funding from Chance to Shine, however this was bolstered by the schools themselves buying into the Chance to Shine service to an extent that they themselves invested £6,000 into schools activity.

 Cornwall and Chance to Shine have committed funding for the next 5 years taking them to 20 years in the field.  We will continue to work with Chance to Shine and deliver cricket in the schools and areas that need help. This funding will enable coaching and competition to be available to 30 Primary Schools annually and 18 Secondary Schools. 

Competition is a key growth area, with making cricket all year in Schools. We want secondary schools to support and deliver with Leaders/Activators transition festivals for Y6 pupils indoors.  We are delivering for the first time a under 13s Girls hardball knockout competition with in secondary schools. This is a reflection of the growth of girl’s cricket and the need to increase opportunities to play and develop.
