2014

This is the draw for the Cornwall Group of these national competitions.  The draws have been heavily regionalised (east/west, and further limited for the first round) and made as simple as possible, with no neutral venues.  The first named team is to play at home in all rounds, including the Finals, which are reversed (west v east) from 2013.

We apologise that, due to the necessity of playing the finals on Sundays, for geographical reasons, the high number of CSCA fixtures and Development Festivals being played on these days and the stipulated dates for the national rounds, the competitions are not particularly well spread over the season.

Umpires will be supplied for both Finals.  ECB will also provide medals and a winners’ trophy.

Results to be submitted by the winning club to Mark Mitchell immediately following each match

 Rules / Playing Conditions

The ECB National Rules will apply.    ECB Generic Rules      National U13 Rules     National U15 Rules

In particular, please note:

1.5 Each innings shall be a maximum of 20 overs in duration.  A minimum of 10 overs per side will constitute a match.  If the number of overs available to each side are not equal then run rate will be used to decide matches.

1.6 No bowler shall bowl more than four overs in a match.  In matches of less than 20 overs a side the number of overs per bowler will be reduced pro rata.  Generic Playing Condition 2.1 will apply at all stages of the Competition.

1.7 When a batsman reaches or passes the personal total of 30 runs (50 runs in the Under 15 competition) they must ‘retire’ and will not be allowed to return. A batsman can continue their innings beyond 30 (50) if their retirement would end the innings before the agreed number of overs have been bowled.

1.9 Law 42.6 – Dangerous and Unfair Bowling

1.9.1 Law 42.6 (b) Bowling of high full pitched balls, to be amended to read as follows: Any high full pitched ball regardless of its pace) which passes or would have passed above waist height of the striker standing upright at the crease shall be called and signalled No ball by the umpire at the bowler’s end. In addition, if the high full pitched ball is fast, it shall be deemed dangerous and unfair and the umpire at the bowler’s end, in addition to the call and signal of No ball, will adopt the procedures of Law 42.7.

3.1 In the event of the scores of each team being equal the winner shall be determined as follows:

3.1.1 The side which has taken the greater number of wickets.

3.1.2 If still equal, the side with the higher score after 19 overs. If still equal, the score after 18 overs, etc.

3.1.3 If still equal five players shall be nominated to bowl alternately at the wickets from the bowler’s end and the team scoring the most hits shall be the winner. In the event of the number of hits being equal, the above 5 bowlers shall be nominated to bowl alternatively in a sudden death bowl out until a winner has been achieved.

GIRLS Also, please note that, for ECB national competitions, the age group requirements apply to all players regardless of their sex, ie. Girls are not allowed to play below their actual age-group.

Also, for the Cornwall competition:

In the event of a match being abandoned (with or without any play) with the visiting team having travelled, the venue should be reversed for the replay, with a bowl out staged after any unfinished replay.  Alternatively, a bowl out could be staged on the first occasion if mutually agreed.

And:  In the event of the county winners being unable to take part in the national competition, the runners-up shall be invited to replace them.
