2016/17 Competition  - Tideford retaiin their title.

 

The final round of matches has completed with Tideford A retaining their title but they were made to work hard for it by St Neot.  The two meet in the penultimate round of matches with Tideford setting a challenging total of 118 all out.  St Neot looked like making it an exciting finish as the final four overs commenced with 39 required but with only 2 wickets in hand.  However as the 9^th over approached conclusion the innings came to an abrupted end as two wickets fell in two balls to leave Tideford victors by 33 runs and with it the league title was virtual assured.

Most of this Tideford team have also been competing in the Derriford Indoor League where they have achieved similar success.  They progressed to the Devon final and came within a whisker of beating Exeter University and setting up a virtually all Cornwall clash with St Austell.  Attention now turns to the Knock Out Cup competition which commences on Sunday 5 March at Lux Park.

2015/16 Competition  - Latest - Callington defeat Tideford in the Cup Final - scroll down

The East Cornwall indoor league has change of format for season 2015-16.  Teams have been split into 2 Divisions generally based on last seasons performances to ensure games are as competitive as possible.  Each team will play each other twice giving 6 league games.  On completion of the league season there will be a Cup competition.

 

Division 1

 In the first week Lanhydrock bowled Callington out for 73 and only lost one wicket passing that total.  In the other game Tideford A scored 156-5 which proved far too much for Liskeard who were bowled out for 73.  In week 2 the Tideford A played Lanhydrock and after a measured start posted 124-3 which put Lanhydrock under too much pressure and they lost wickets regularly and were bowled out for 45.  Callington 82-4 comfortably chased down Liskeard’s 80-5 to record their first win of the season.  Week 3 saw Tideford A continue their unbeaten start by posting 110 all out which Callington were unable to match’ despite a good start as they finished 19 runs short’ whilst Lanhydrock 123-3 easily beat Liskeard 55-4 by 68 runs.  In the first of the return fixtures Tideford scored 147-5 against Liskeard who were then bowled out for only 40.  In the return fixture between Lanhydrock and Callington the earlier result was reversed as Lanhydrock were restricted to 73-3 which Callington chased down for the loss of only 1 wicket.  With just two games to go Tideford A only have to win one more game to win claim the title for the second year running whilst Liskeard look odds on certain to get relegated. 

February 1

The East Cornwall indoor league finished with Tideford A retaining their title after a narrow win over Lanhydrock.  Having posted 132 all out, Tideford looked to be cruising as they reduced Lanhydrock to 93-5 with only 2 overs remaining however the penultimate over went for 26.  So it was left to Chris Anderson, the most consistent bowler of the season, to ensure there would be no grandstand finish as he picked up the last wicket off his second ball to secure victory by 12 runs.  Tideford completed an unbeaten league season on the last weekend as they scored 139-3 and then restricted Callington to 114-4 to win by 25 runs.  Callington and Lanhydrock finished tied in second place. 

 

Division 2

 

Records fell as St Neot scored 194-5 having been 70-5 thanks to JJ Moss who hit the competitions highest score indoors of 130no.  Tideford B were never in the hunt as they were restricted to 60-3.  The closest match of the opening set of fixtures was reserved for the last game of the night as Tideford C, who were bowled out for 60, were then able to bowl out the combined Duloe/St Stephens team for 57 to win by 3 runs.  In week 2 Tideford C thought they had put themselves in control with a score of 142-3 only for St Neot to comfortably get themselves over the line for the loss of 3 wkts.  Tideford B 76-5 were well beaten by 5 wkts by the combined Duloe Saints.  In week 3 Tideford B scored 94-5 but lost by 4 wkts to Tideford C whilst in the surprise of the day St Neot were bowled out for 51 and duly lost by 5wkts to Duloe Saints. In week 4 Tideford C completed the double over Duloe Saints (105-2 v 66 all out) whilst St Neot returned to winning ways as they chase down Tideford B’s 95-5 to win without losing a wicket.  St Neot and Tideford C are joint leaders of Division 2 with Duloe Saints not far behind as we go into the last two rounds of fixtures.

 February 1

In Division 2 the title effectively came down to a showdown on the penultimate round of fixtures between St Neot and Tideford C.  St Neot posted the imposing total of 155-4 which Tideford C never looked like threatening as they were bowled out for 86.  Tideford B collected their first win by beating Duloe/St Stephens by 15 runs and St Neot made sure of the title in the final round of matches when they beat Duloe St Stephens by 5 wkts chasing only 70 to win.  Tideford C confirmed their runners up position with a 47 run victory over Tideford B.

 The KO Cup commenced on the  weekend of 7 February 2016

Having suffered a poor season Liskeard withdrew from the Indoor Cup and were replaced by a Nomads team for the first round.  In the first game of the night St Neot were dismissed for only 50 and Callington chased down the total without losing a wicket. 

The second game saw more runs scored as Tideford B amassed 138-5.  The Nomads put up a decent effort but ultimately fell 26 runs short in finishing on 112-3. 

Another low scoring fixture followed as St Stephens/Duloe were bowled out for 41.  Tideford C made hard work of the chase losing 4 wickets before stumbling over the winning line. 

The closest game of the night was reserved for the last game between League winners Tideford A and runners up Lanhydrock.  Tideford made a strong start as they reached 55 at the half way mark but Lanhydrock fought back to restrict Tideford to 101-5 at the end of their 12 overs.  Lanhydrock’s reply matched Tidefords’ but they then lost wickets as the brakes were applied during the second half of the innings.  The final over started with 19 required to win but this was immediately reduced to 12 as the first ball was a no ball and hit for 6.  However better bowling from Paul Luiten, who followed up his 35no earlier, meant that six was required to tie off the last ball.  A perfectly executed Yorker meant a dot ball saw Tideford win by 6 runs.

In the Semi Finals of the Cup Callington had a comfortable win over Tideford B whilst Tideford A were made to work slightly harder to overcome Tideford C winning by 2 wkts with 8 balls to spare.  This set up an intriguing final between the two most consistent team this season. 

 

6 March

Callington win tight final to deny Tideford A the double

 Tideford A were invited to bat first and initially struggled to cope with the bowling of Chris Davies and Nick Parker.  Chris Anderson and Alex Ramsden both got to twenty and then Australian Pete Dargan chipped in with 17 as Tideford finished on 94-5.  Callington responded in a hurry despite the loss of Aidan Libby and after 6 overs were well on the way at 58-1.  Tight bowling by Dargan meant that with 2 overs to go the score had reached 75-3 and the game was very much in the balance but despite a wicket falling in the penultimate over Chris Davies returned to take Callington to victory in a Man of the Match performance that saw him follow up his 1-14 from three overs with 33no.

 

In the Plate Final St Neot scored 158 to defeat a weakened Lanhydrock by almost a hundred runs.

 2014/15 Competition

15 March

Just as with the Indoor League in the West of the County, the league winners were unable to complete the double as Liskeard pulled off a surprise in the first semi final.  Tideford had previously boasted a 100% record and had never failed to reach three figures but choose this game to forget how to bat and coupled with some excellent fielding which yielded 2 run outs Tideford were bowled out for 56 which Liskeard knocked off very easily.  The second semi final was much closer as St Neot posted 94-5 in there innings and in reply Lanhydrock needed 24 off the last two overs then 11 off the last over.  It finally came down to 3 off the last ball to win only for the scores to be tied.  With the match going to a super over St Neot scored only 4 which should never have been enough.  Lanhydrock got to 4-1 and then off the last ball tried to steal a run but the batsmen was run out however the umpire had called a wide which meant Lanhydrock progressed.  In the final Lanhydrock scored 86-5 and this proved enough as Liskeard were bowled out for 51 to leave Lanhydrock Cup winners by 35 runs in their first season in the competition.  Any other teams wishing to join the biggest indoor league in the County for season 2015-16 would be most welcome.

 

 

There were no surprises in the final week of the league season although Tideford A had a scare before overcoming Roche.  Tideford lost 5 wickets in making 70 but were indebted to Chris Anderson who added 43 runs on his own to get Tideford up to a defendable total off 113.  It was just as well as Roche made 75 before being bowled out.  Lanhydrock had a comfortable win over Tideford B to confirm their second place ranking going into Finals Day.  The full results were as follows:

February 15th

In the long awaited clash of the undefeated teams Tideford A came out on top of a high quality game that had lots of twists and turns before Lanhydrock were finally dismissed 27 runs short of victory.  Tideford got off to a poor start and were soon 30-3 in the 5^th over before a decent stand between Harry Ramsden and Lockett (20) put Tideford back in the ascendency.  Ramsden was left alone for the final couple of overs and crucially struck 21 off the last over to finish on 54 not out as Tideford posted a testing target of 115-5.  Lanhydrock also made a poor start in their response as Chris Anderson picked up a wicket and only conceded one run from the first over.  Tom Trethewey made a useful 21 and Attfield kept them in the hunt with 27 but with 38 required from the last 3 overs they were always up against it with only 2 wickets left and they were eventually dismissed with 10 balls unused on 89 having lost 3 batsmen to run outs.

 

There were some other close finishes, none more so than Duloe who tied with Tideford C as both teams finished on 82.  Liskeard were able to chase down 118 to beat Menheniot/Looe whilst Roche fell only 5 runs short of the 129 scored by Tideford B.

 

Tideford will now play the Liskeard in Semi Final 1 after Duloe’s tied their game with Tideford C meant they can no longer catch Liskeard whilst Lanhydrock will play the St Neot in Semi Final 2 on 15 March.

February 1st

It is as you were at the top of the East Cornwall Indoor League with comfortable wins for both Lanhydrock and Tideford A with the pair finally meeting for what will be a table topping decider in the next round of fixtures.  St Neot took over third place following a comfortable win over Tideford C.  Following their defeat to Lanhydrock, Liskeard C are now nervously looking over their shoulder as Duloe are only 2 points behind and the pair meet in the final round of fixtures.  In the event of a tie places are decided on the result of the game between the two sides involved.  In the event of a three way tie which prevents separation in this manner then the positions are decided on net run rate in the games involving those teams.

January 18th

Week 6 has now been complete and the top two remain unbeaten with almost identical results this week.  The battle to fill the remaining two places also looks a little clearer as Liskeard and St Neot  have some breathing space although Liskeard were pushed close but Tideford C were unable to get the 20 runs required off the last over.  Full results as follows:

January 4th

Round 5 is now complete and Lanhydrock and Tideford A continue to set the pace and they have both opened up a significant 4 pt gap over the rest with 4 games to go.  It looks increasingly likely that the fixture between the two sides on 15 February will decided who will claim top spot and thus the game against the fourth placed team in the Semi Finals a month later.  Full results as follows:

December 21

Almost at the halfway stage with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals.  Tideford A and Lanhydrock look well on course for two off those places as they maintained their 100% records although Lanhydrock had a scare as they were bowled out for 57.  However they bowled Duloe out for 18 to win by 39 runs.  There were first wins for Roche and Menheniot/Looe which means after 4 games each team has registered at least one win in the competition.  Full results:

The East Cornwall Indoor cricket league started last week with an increase in the number of team competing in what is believed to be the 25th year.  Lanhydrock and Roche have joined to make 10 teams competing and the first round of results are as follows:

 Tideford B 76 lost to Tideford A 77-2 by 4 wickets

February 12th 2014

 Liskeard won the East Cornwall indoor cricket league with a 100% record following a very one side victory over a depleted Tideford A side.  Menheniot beat Duloe to claim the runners up position.

January 27th 2014

The East Cornwall indoor cricket league has reached the final round of fixtures with Liskeard maintaining their 100% record following a 1 wkt win over Menheniot.  They have yet to secure the title as Tideford could still catch them as the two meet on the final weekend.  A victory for Liskeard could see Menheniot secure the runners up spot with victory over Duloe.

 

January 14th 2014

The East Cornwall indoor cricket league has now reached the halfway mark with Liskeard the early pace setters having won four out of four.  Early highlights include a tied game between Menheniot and St Neot as Ed Facey hit 3 of the last ball for an individual score of 60 that saw both teams tied on 110.  The record for the highest individual total fell as guest Scottish International Hamish Gardiner scored 85 for Tideford as they just failed to chase down the mammoth Menheniot total of 161.

 2012/13 Competition

 March 2013

The East Cornwall Indoor League has come to a conclusion.  Tideford CC won the League having lost only one league game all season whilst Duloe finished as runners up.  The closeness of the League was reflected by the fact that 3 teams shared third spot.  Two of those teams fought out the Cup Final as Menheniot ran out winners by 2 wickets in a nervy low scoring affair.  Liskeard had been bowled out for 50 with S Kidd top scoring with 17 yet Menheniot's reply suffered a poor start as they slumped to 20 for 3 at the half way mark.  They were then indebted to A Keeble who saw Menheniot home with a measured 20 not out.
