The weather put paid to two of yesterday’s LWC Drinks Premier 40/40 Cup games with the ties between St Austell and Redruth and Grampound Road and Truro cancelled.

Play was possible further west where Penzance beat Helston, in a game played at Troon, by 9 wickets. In a reduced 20 over affair Helston made 127 for 5. Penzance won in the 11^th over with Christian Purchase making 77 not out.

Falmouth top the West group after Hayle were dismissed for 167 at the Towans. Falmouth reached 168 for 4 with Stefan Churcher unbeaten on 76.
