Wadebridge win Women's Sixes
It was a series of short, 6-overs per side, pairs matches and six teams took part in the main event. Redruth and Grampound Road 2 were the losing semi-finalists and Falmouth and Grampound Road 1 also took part. The format worked very well and all of the teams seemed to enjoy it, gaining some more competitive cricket experience in the process. There was also a 'Plate' competition, where three less experienced teams played a round-robin with each other. A 'Best of the Rest' team were the winners, over Grampound Road and St Just. Grampound Road CC should be highly commended for fielding three full teams, an excellent effort which bodes extremely well for the future.
There will be a repeat Indoor Sixes tournament on Sunday 15th February and perhaps one more in April. Women's and Girls' cricket is on the way up in Cornwall, with six clubs again due to compete in the Sunday League next summer. Two others will be looking to take part in a secondary competition with the six League teams. All three Cornwall Schools' teams have a full fixture list of 8 matches each in 2015, mostly against teams in the south west. There are also 'T20' (twenty overs) matches for the Under 15s and 17s. The Cornwall Women's team will play five Championship matches and compete in a T20 League as well.
