St Just out of National Club Championship


St Just lost to Frocester in the last 16 of the Royal London Club Championship today.

Having elected to bat they had a poor start losing Neil Curnow and Mark George in the first two overs. Gary Thomas held the innings together making 71 before being seventh out at 128. Josh Semmens hit a six in his 18 before being last man out, at 156 with five balls remaining.

Frocester lost Louis Gegg in the first over, caught by Nick George at slip off Gareth May. The St Just skipper caught and bowled Tom Wand for 16 but Uzi Quereshi (61) and Nick Trainor (61) shared a match winning stand of 105 for the third wicket. Occasional bowler Neil Curnow picked up two late wickets.

St Just – St Just 156 (G Thomas 71; O Jones 5-27, N Trainor 3-21, P Muchall 2-26), Frocester 157-5 (U Quereshi 61, N Trainor 61; N Curnow 2-8, G May 2-46). Frocester beat St Just by five wickets.
