Mount Ambrose receive £50,000 Grant
Mount Ambrose Cricket Club secures £50,000 National Lottery funding from Sport England
Sport England announces £40 million to extend Inspired Facilities Fund to 2017.
Mount Ambrose Cricket Club has secured Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund. Sport England today revealed that more than 1,300 local sports projects across the country have now received National Lottery funding through Inspired Facilities, part of its Olympic and Paralympic legacy programme. Mount Ambrose Cricket Club will receive £50,000 of National Lottery funding to help towards building their new Community and Sports Pavilion.
The building will replace the old, but well used existing wooden pavilion. The club with increased membership, community use, a thriving youth section and potential ground expansion, required a building to meet these demands. The new facility will have two large changing rooms, disabled / women’s separate changing facilities, large social area, kitchen, toilets and a meeting room that can be closed off.
Sport England’s Chair, Nick Bitel, said: “A year on from the Olympics, this National Lottery investment is helping us deliver a lasting sporting legacy in Cornwall. “With investment now on offer from our Inspired Facilities Fund until 2017, we look forward to supporting many more sports clubs in the South West who play such a vital role in grassroots sport.”
Club Chairman, Tim Brokenshire, said: “The Club has gradually, increased the quality of its facilities, pitch, and ground equipment. It was inevitable, that in time we would have to replace our changing facilities, and social amenities. Thanks to the hard working members of our club, that dream will be sooner than expected! Therefore on behalf of Mount Ambrose Cricket Club, I sincerely thank Sport England for this generous grant, which is sure to benefit our club and community".
Project Co-ordinator, Marcus Rogers, who put together, and submitted the grant application, said,
"An incredible amount of hard work, time and effort was needed to secure this fantastic funding award from Sport England. It really is a major contribution to our club development plan of building a Community and Sports Pavilion to compliment the already excellent playing surface at the cricket club, and provide a facility for the local community. A big thank you goes to Sport England in helping us to achieve this.
Local MP, George Eustice, said:
"It is great news that Mount Ambrose Cricket Club have been awarded a £50,000 grant from Sport England to build a new pavilion on their sports ground. The club has gone from strength to strength in recent years, offer coaching for young people and allows the local school the use its facilities. The pavilion is regularly used by other local charities and organisations and the whole community will benefit from this new facility"
Mount Ambrose Cricket Club is one of well over 300 projects across England receiving lottery investment from the fourth round of the Inspired Facilities fund and one of more than 1,300 to benefit overall.
Many more communities are now set to benefit from the hugely popular fund, after Sport England today announced that it was extending Inspired Facilities until 2017, with an additional £40 million of National Lottery funding to invest. Bids will be accepted for the next round of Inspired Facilities funding from the 21 October 2013.
