Premier League Fixtures Moved
Premier League Fixture Changes have been made to help Cornwall CCC in their bid to reach the Unicorns Trophy Final.
Cornwall County Cricket Club have made a special request to the Cornwall Cricket League following their Unicorns Trophy quarter-final success on Sunday. They are drawn away to Hertfordshire, at Harpenden, in the semi-final on Sunday 26th July with a 11am start. They obviously need to overnight very near to the venue to be on the ground at 9.30am. Penzance to Harpenden (7 miles south of Luton) is around 325 miles.
Each of the five Premier League matches scheduled for Saturday 25th July include at least one player who played in the quarter-final win.
The League are fully supportive of the County Club in their bid to make the KO Final for the first time ever in the 33 year history of the competition.
The League does not want to have a Club v County issue for our leading players, or want clubs having to play important Premier League games without the opportunity to select their best players.
Therefore the decision has been made to move all five Premier League games on Saturday 25th July en bloc to Sunday 23rd August 12.30pm. This is now the official match day and these games cannot be further moved.
The precedent was set in 2004 when a complete set of fixtures was moved to a Sunday to allow the County side to travel on the Saturday to Luton to play Bedfordshire in the Trophy, and that was only a first round game.
The Premier 50/50 Cup Final date has also been put back from the scheduled date of Sunday 26 July to the reserve day of Sunday 9 August. Venue to be determined after the semi-finals on 28th June.
In the event of one of the finalists also being the Cornwall National T20 representative, and the reserve day is used from the Area Finals Day at Grampound Road on Sunday 2 August, then it will have to be put back.
Season Plan Changes in Summary
Sat 25 July Premier Fixtures moved en bloc to Sun 23 August at 12.30pm
Sun 26 July Prem 50/50 Cup Final moved to Sun 9 August (original reserve date).
