As we all start winding down for the festive break the Club Support Team want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...We hope you have a relaxing break and come back rejuvenated ready for all that the 2016 season will bring!!

2015 has been a great year for club cricket and here are just a few standout acheivements...

  • 2,276      clubs took part in NatWest CricketForce
  • £2.5      million was distributed to 801 clubs through the Small Grants Scheme,      supported by Waitrose
  • Nearly 200      clubs signed up to deliver activity part of the This Girl Can...Play      Cricket initiative
  • 1,240      clubs delivered a Club Open Day attracting over 50,000 people to local      cricket clubs
  • Over 450      clubs participating in the NatWest U19 Club T20 competition, with more      than 1000 matches being played over the summer

Furthermore in 2015 ECB's recreational initiative Get the Game On launched and ensured :

  • 198 League      Campaign managers were recruited to support local activity
  • 6% more      fixtures were played in 2015 compared to 2014
  • 32 leagues      changed their start time
  • 15 leagues      reduced their travel time

3 leagues changed their wet weather rules

The ECB would like to  bring to your attention the decision in late November by the ECB Board to   endorse changes to the regulations governing the use of helmets across the   professional and recreational game.

ECB is recommending   that all recreational cricketers wear helmets which meet the latest British   safety standard from next season. The use of protective headgear is already   mandatory for all Under 18s within the recreational game.

From next season, all male and female cricketers playing in professional   cricket matches will be required to use helmets which meet the latest British   safety standard.

Click here   to find out more about the ECB & PCA guidance on Head Protectors/Helmets. Full   details and amended regulations will be published in the New Year.

Over 70,000 players in the past three years have had their say on what type of cricket they want to play,
through the National Cricket Playing Survey. Off the back of this valuable
feedback, the ECB has responded and created a ‘League Blueprint’ for open age
weekend cricket.

The Blueprint is a series of recommendations that leagues are being encouraged
to embrace to help keep more players on the pitch, enjoy the game and get more
games played.

What can you do?

If the players at your club want change, we would like you to represent their
views in league meetings and vote for the cricket players want to play in the
future.

Furthermore the ECB have recently launched a league helpdesk. A service for all
leagues to access support, help and guidance when needed, such as information
on player loan schemes, format changes and registration. Contact the helpdesk
