St Just lost their first game in the Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League when they went down to a 33 run defeat at Helston.
Helston recovered from 32 for four to make 227 for six with Lionel Vaaltyn making 85 not out. St Just collapsed from 133 for two to end on 194 all out in the last over.
Penzance wasted no time in defeating Falmouth by six wickets with 28 overs to spare. Falmouth made 173 all out with Guy Leathley hitting 83. Christian Purchase then smashed a quickfire 110 not out as Penzance got to 177 for four in the 22nd over.
Truro comfortably won by eight wickets at Werrington. The home side made 166 for eight in a 44 over game. Truro’s openers Scott Harvey (73) and Adrian Noott (53) then put on 160 before two late wickets fell.
There was an exciting finish at Grampound Road where a 30 over game with St Austell was tied. St Austell made 143 and the Road levelled the scores ending on 143 for eight.
Redruth beat Newquay by four wickets in a 40 over game. Newquay were all out for 97 after being 52 for eight at one stage. Redruth replied with 98 for six with six overs to spare.
In County Division One St Minver maintained top spot and Camborne consolidated second place. The results were:
St Minver 222 all out beat Hayle 148 all out
Callington 218 for 7 lost to Camborne 220 for 8
Wadebridge 206 for 9 beat Gorran 132 all out
Roche 174 for 8 beat Werrington 169 all out
Beacon 73 all out lost to Rosudgeon 74 for 4
St Gluvias 142 lost to Ludgvan 148 for 3
Today, weather permitting, the Premier 50/50 Cup Final takes place at Redruth with Helston playing Truro at 1pm
